The Cupboard Restaurant has been a Memphis tradition since 1943. Our goal is to provide fresh vegetables and homemade entrees that say to you, “home-cooking”.
Our tastefully fresh and homemade style of cooking has made The Cupboard the most popular restaurant of its kind in the mid-south area. Our catering service promises to deliver the same quality of food with exemplary service and style. Your complete satisfaction with our food and service is our goal.
Please note that the daily specials on the menu are only available on those days they are listed. For example, if we are catering for you on a Monday, you can order any of Monday’s Specials in addition to anything listed on the everyday menu, but not any of the Tuesday Specials.
The Cupboard Restaurant was established in 1943. It has been a Memphis tradition for 76+ years.
The restaurant was purchased in November, 1992 by Charles Cavallo. Charles owned a successful produce company for ten years prior to buying the Cupboard Restaurant. After 57 years, on April 1, 2000, the original Cupboard Restaurant moved to its larger, and current, location at 1400 Union Avenue. This location offers the same fine food plus additional seating and parking!
The Cupboard Restaurant has been a favorite of visiting celebrities to Memphis for many years. They also enjoy down-home cooking and are often tired of “road food”! The Cupboard Restaurant is the perennial winner of culinary awards. The Memphis Magazine Restaurant Guide has honored The Cupboard Restaurant with First Place in the “Best Down-Home” category. The Memphis Flyer has voted the restaurant First Place for “Best Down-Home/Soul Food”!
